“Great Gobs of Goose Grease: An Account of A Stroke Happening and the Trial and Struggles to Comeback” by Connie Smith was among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 at Frankfurt, Germany, on October 18-22, 2023. This book was commended by Mihir Shah if the US Review of Books, highlighting “Overall, adversity brings life into focus, and in Smith’s work, this is magnified even more through her knack for authenticity, particularly through her journal entries. What she calls her “Stroke Book” is an outpouring of vulnerability that shows readers the grueling journey to recovery in its most minute forms. Though she has endured a tremendous health ordeal, Smith is fearless in her writing and desire to demonstrate a pathway forward for stroke victims, step-by-step, with support and gratitude.”

The Frankfurter Buchmesse is reportedly known as the world’s largest trade fair for books, opened its doors to participants around the globe celebrating books and their authors. The massive book fair also celebrated its 75th anniversary this year. Slovenia, their guest of honor this year, presented itself as a nation with a rich literary history in addition to being a desirable tourism destination.

It is the best platform for publishers and authors to engage with international audiences and share stories. This year, over 105,000 trade visitors from 130 countries and 110,000 audiences participated in this big event. This year attracted more visitors compared to last year, when there were 93,000 trade visitors and 87,000 audiences. Over 2,600 activities were covered by more than 7,000 media professionals during the five days of the exhibition.
